Why I want to teach children to succeed and how I will achieve this goal.

Becoming a teacher is something I have always dreamed of doing. My high school social studies teacher inspired me to do what I do today. His passion and love for changing students' lives rubbed off on me and I hope to have the same effect.  I have great respect for all teachers that are molding and shaping our young people today.  For me, I feel that business education immersed with technology is my way of helping mold and shape students for the future. Not only will I educate students about business education, but also about technology and how to incorporate 21st century skills such as collaboration and critical thinking that can be implemented in other content areas and everyday life. My students are our future and it is my responsibility to prepare them for the evolving world that we live in today.

My classroom is a place of new discoveries in technology every day. Using these differing types of technology aids in connecting business content to every learning style: visual, auditory and kinesthetic.  Every child will be treated with respect and encouraged to participate in the learning activities that are taking place.  From this participation I hope that students can make the connection from their daily lives to the learning occuring in the classroom, fostering a desire for life-long learning. I track student's progress on a consistent basis with formative and summative assessments. I use these assessments to review my teaching and alter my techniques and future teaching practices to ensure higher level learning using collaboration and critical thinking.

As stated, teaching is something I have dreamed of doing for a very long time. That love paired with my selflessness and hardworking attitude is how I plan to change students' lives. When times get tough and not everything is going as planned I will fall back on those three attributes to carry me through. The love of helping students reach places they couldn't have gotten to without me. The selflessness I have to put others before myself to further their learning and success. And lastly, the hardworking attitude that I have long possessed will guide me in the right direction and help me learn and grow as an educator to ensure I am doing the best job possible for the students and the school district.
